Some wounds are more painful than others: having showcased for the last 5 years nearly a hundred different artists all interested in portraying embodiments of injuries, I find myself uploading onto the GALLERY a series of photos that are the direct result of a real wound.
Laura Gioia (aka Koan) has been a good friend of mine for quite a while, while also keeping a close eye on my project's development since its first stages of life. Her series 'The Athena Syndrome' results from a difficult surgical intervention she had to undergo during the summer: it is a bare - very direct - storytelling of the surgery, having in the hospital bed its epicentre.
Car crashes are the most public embodiments of disaster: taking place in 'our streets', those who witness a crash feel instantly compelled to stare at these dramatic simulacra of chance.
I have been following the trajectories of the automobiles I encountered during my trips throughout Europe in order to tell the stories of their inevitable collisions. The 'Crash Chasing' series is dedicated to the crashed cars that I encountered along the road, in a trip I started several years ago along a route whose destination is unknown to me as yet.
Every crashed vehicle is nothing but another wounded body arising out of the urban landscape.
